Gardening - Winter vegetable plant list

Often gardeners are unsure what to grow for fresh vegetables during winter. Here is a quick planting list for winter vegetables. Planting times may vary depending on your climate, mulching soils and addition of frost cloth will help to protect winter vegetables from frost damage. Likewise growing vegetables in a cold frame will also reduce damage from frost.

Winter Vegetable list:
Lettuce

Beet root

Broccoli

Brussels Sprout

Cabbage

Carrots

Cauliflower

Garlic

Mustard

Onions

Parsnip

Spinach

Thanks for this... we are moving to Murupara and designing a full garden on a section mid-winter and I've been hunting for the past hour on google trying to find winter veges that will grow in a noticeably cold area such as the volcanic plateau is. (No snow, but certainly good frosts!) Yours is the first site I've come across that gives some basic good ideas on any kind of winter planting for veges! As we are housebussing as well, we wanted gardens that primarily were about self-sufficiency, rather than pretty flowers - this all helps, thanks. (And yes, I will have a glasshouse and probably qonset-styled gardens for the really cold times).

Best of luck:)
